WSECO GETS A GRANT

Thanks to the hard work of Technician Recruitment and Programs Manager Jake Connley, Western States received a significant grant from the Idaho Workforce Development Council to contribute toward employee training.

The IWDC aims to foster a diverse and prepared workforce to meet the needs of Idaho’s many industries. To accomplish this, the IWDC awards grants for training and development to Idaho employers.

“We were awarded a Workforce Development grant in the amount of $946,293.16 to be used by Western States to develop its Idaho employees over the next two years.” Jake said.

The grant money will be used to lower costs incurred when conducting safety, technical, business, sales and management trainings for Idaho-based employees. Training and safety teams will be able to conduct more trainings while also developing additional, more advanced materials. Jake worked closely with Talent Development Director Brian Cofer and Safety Director Zach Penich to identify areas of need in employee training at Western States.

“This is a huge opportunity for the employees of Western States,” Jake said, “This grant is going to help us advance our already world-class training offerings and will allow our employees opportunities to become more productive and successful in their careers.”
