THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT.

Helping those around us is one part of the holidays that sometimes gets forgotten in all of the craziness of the season.  A number of our stores shared how they took time to slow down and remember those in need:

Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and Jackson
Western States employees from Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Jackson contributed to a Toys for Tots drive, along with many family members, friends and customers from several Southeast Idaho communities.  The Pocatello branch also held a Toys for Tots fundraiser trap shoot.  Over 100 donuts were made on site and five gallons of steaming chili consumed by employees, families, friends and customers who so braved the cold in support of less fortunate kids.  The event raised over $400 in cash and 60 toys.

Lewiston
Everyone on the Lewiston team pitched in to raise almost $500 to give to the Northwest Children’s Home, a local treatment center for kids who need mental health services.  The funds raised went to purchase each of the children at the Home a Cat duffle bag.

Spokane
The Spokane stores (equipment shop and truck shop) combined to have a Christmas potluck and fundraiser.  The team held a raffle and live auction that raised $1080 for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, a local children’s shelter.  Spokane employees also brought a number of items such as diapers, baby wipes and stuffed animals to donate to the Nursery.

Missoula
The Missoula branch partnered with the local Opportunity Resources Co. to provide presents for a Special Needs person. This person did not have any family to help provide presents or support for Christmas. The Missoula team also provided toys for disadvantaged families in the Salmon Idaho area in coordination with Westfall Inc. for a group called Christmas For All.

Meridian
The Meridian team held a Toys for Tots drive throughout December.  Employees organized a bake sale and the Branch Leadership Team served pancake breakfasts to kick off and end the drive.  Everyone pitched in to collect 110 toys and $2300 in donations.
