REMEMBERING 9/11

In honor of the bravery of first responders and the lives lost on the September 11, 2001, Western States is proud to display the American flag over our Meridian yard.

Mike Friedberg, a technician at the Meridian store, suggested the memorial to Western States after being deeply moved in the past by seeing similar gestures from former employers.

“The tragedy of that day for those of us that experienced it is a defining moment for our generation,” Mike said, “Military veterans and first responders everywhere have setup memorials like this every year since 9.11.01.”

The lit display is the result of cooperation from several departments, including Meridian CRS and Service.

“If nothing else, I just hope passerby feel a sense of pride and remembrance of who we are and what we have endured as a community and as a country,” Mike said.
