RECOGNITION FOR EXCELLENCE

Western States is thrilled to receive the Caterpillar Technician Development Award for excellence in technician development through the Technician Career Development Program!

The Technician Career Development Program (TCDP) at Western States began in 2018 for Apprentice-level technicians, and was expanded to include Journeyman and Master levels in 2019-2020. The program itself includes web-based training, tasks and instructor-led training that are constantly updated and revised as new technical needs are found.

“Technicians represent approximately half of our entire employee population so we needed a comprehensive and robust program to help them develop and be the best in the industry.  The TCDP provides a technician a “roadmap” for their career to get them from day one to retirement,” Talent Development Director Brian Cofer said, “It also allows our technicians to continuously learn new skills helping them to keep up with changes to the equipment and the demands of our clients.”

Brian explained that the new award is a significant accomplishment for Western States, setting us apart from our competitors and other companies trying to fill technician roles.
