2019 SKILLS USA COMPETITION

The annual Idaho Skills USA competition recently took place in Meridian, hosted by Western States Cat. This prestigious event allows select high school and college students from around the state of Idaho a chance to demonstrate their technical knowledge while vying for top honors and a shot at competing at the National level. Outside organizations also get the opportunity to participate and observe the professional standards held by Western States Cat.

Congratulations to James Cornia (Lewis-Clark State College) from the College/Post Secondary division and Travis Barnard (Cassia Regional Technical Center) of the High School division, who each emerged victorious. The two winners are now eligible to compete at Nationals.

Rounding out the top three in the college division were Alex Hubbard (2nd) and Kade Est (3rd). The remaining top three high school division winners were Zachary Peterson (2nd) and Hunter Teel (3rd).

Overall, 47 students from all across Idaho participated in the event.
