WINNERS NAMED IN 2018 IDAHO SKILLS USA COMPETITION.

The annual Idaho Skills USA competition recently took place in Meridian, hosted by Western States Cat. This unique event allows select high school and college students from around the state a chance to demonstrate their technical knowledge while vying for top honors and a shot at competing at the National level. Outside organizations also get the opportunity to participate and observe the professional standards held by WSECO.

Congratulations to Bryson Anderson (College of Southern Idaho) from the College/Post Secondary division and Glen Keslar (Dennis Technical Education Center) of the High School division, who each emerged victorious. The two winners are now eligible to compete at Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky June 25-29.

Rounding out the top three in the college division were Alex Hiner (2nd) and Lance Goeckner (3rd). The remaining top three high school division winners were Zachary Peterson (2nd) and Trevor Eastlick (3rd).

 

Overall, 19 college students and 24 high school students from all across Idaho participated. Some stations at the event included:

  • Kenworth Sales: DOT Inspection
  • Western States: Main shaft stacking / Cat engine diagnostic / Fuel system identification
  • Huskey Auto Electric: Electrical Diagnostic
  • Agri-Service: Tractor Component Identification
  • Idaho Materials & Construction: Equipment Component Identification
  • Cummins Rocky Mountain: Cummins Insight
  • Barry Equipment: Skid steer Component Identification
