A DAY IN THE DIRT.

Hopping into the cab of a 420F backhoe may seem mundane to those who frequently operate them, but there are a lot of employees here at Western States who live in cubicle land.

On May 19th Meridian employees traded up office garb for blue jeans and closed-toe shoes to try their hand at moving some earth. At their disposal; a 236D skid steer, 420F backhoe, two mini excavators and a Genie S-105 boom lift, all courtesy of the Cat Rental Store.

The scene had a similar look and feel to an amusement park for adults. Participants were anxiously waiting in line for their turn on a ride, giddy with excitement. Of course, safety was top of mind. Guiding the operators and ensuring a safe environment were Brad Haag, Alex Freter, Jay Hainline, Aaron Freter, and Ryan Finney. Operating the boom lift were Andy O’Meara and Tony Bussert.

“Day in the dirt was Amazing!” exclaimed Heather Black, Executive Assistant.  “I’ve been anxiously waiting since I was hired to operate a CAT machine; it was so worth the wait!”

In addition to the machine circus, hearty portions of juicy burgers and tasty hot dogs were served for all to enjoy.
